Who are ChasingTales Alaska?

Alex is a proud, first-generation Alaskan, born and raised in southcentral Alaska. His family first came to the state from South Louisiana in 1971. He caught his first rainbow trout on the Upper Kenai River at the age of 7 and is now no stranger to the rivers and streams spanning the road system here in southcentral Alaska. He grew up fishing the Susitna tributaries out of the small town of Talkeetna with his Grandfather and the Kenai Peninsula river systems out of Cooper Landing with his Uncles.
In 1998, his family purchased Kenai River Drifter's Lodge in Cooper Landing and with a lot of blood sweat and tears they developed it into one of the finest fishing destinations in all of Southcentral Alaska. After a brief hiatus exploring Central America by motorcycle, Alex returned home to Drifter's Lodge to try his hand at guiding. He quickly fell in love and quietly rose the ranks to become one of Drifter’s most requested guides.

What sets Alex apart is his selflessness and generosity on the river. Most guides start guiding so they can fish more, only to realize guiding is not fishing. He quickly made a name for himself by putting in the extra time and effort needed to make each trip unique and exceptional for the client. Alex's passion for the fish and the region are apparent and he will do everything in his power to give you an enjoyable day on the water with him.

Shawn Coe was born and raised in Bedford Virginia. He joined the army in 2008 as an infantryman stationed at FT. Carson Colorado. Shawn served 6 years with two combat tours to Afghanistan, after being injured on his second tour Shawn was medically discharged and headed to California for college.
Shawn then found his passion for fly fishing and soon headed to Alaska to begin his guiding career in 2017. He now lives in Sterling Alaska where he is a full time fishing guide.
Continuing The Legacy
ChasingTales is proud to say they are now heading into their 12th season guiding on the Kasilof and Kenai rivers. We provide our guests with six 20' custom aluminum boats, 3 drift boats and 3 power boats, from Willie Boats Inc. We have also spared no expense in the selection of our fly and conventional tackle. Our focus is on the things we can control.
The combination of quality equipment and our knowledge of the area form a solid foundation to ensure your success on the water. There are few things guaranteed both in life and in fishing, but what we can guarantee is that at ChasingTales we will do everything in our power to make sure you get to experience the Alaska that we call home. It is our pleasure to share this amazing place with you each and every season.
